ఈ లోకంలో మనుషులు తాము చేసే సహాయాలను, ప్రార్థనలను లేదా సత్కార్యాలను ఇతరులు గుర్తించాలని, మెచ్చుకోవాలని కోరుకుంటారు. కానీ, లోకసంబంధమైన మెప్పు తాత్కాలికమైనది; దానికి పరలోకంలో ఎలాంటి విలువ ఉండదు. మన ఆత్మీయ జీవితంలో మనం చేసే ప్రార్థనలు, దానధర్మాలు, త్యాగాలు ఇతరులకు కనబడకపోయినా, మనం పడే వేదన లేదా ఏకాంతంలో కార్చే కన్నీరు ఎవరికీ తెలియకపోయినా... మనల్ని సృష్టించిన దేవుడు సమస్తాన్ని వీక్షిస్తున్నాడు. యేసు క్రీస్తు కొండమీది ప్రసంగంలో ఆంతరంగిక ఆరాధన, నిష్కల్మషమైన హృదయపు ప్రాముఖ్యతను బోధిస్తూ మత్తయి 6:4 లో ఈ గొప్ప వాగ్దానాన్ని అనుగ్రహించాడు:
